(CHATHAM, ONTARIO – June 26, 2024) –The second annual Run for the Kids charity event took place on June 23, raising an impressive $117,000 for the Children’s Treatment Centre Foundation of Chatham-Kent (CTC Foundation). Despite the rainy weather, spirits were high as participants of all ages and abilities came together to support local kids and families.
Building on last year’s success, the event, sponsored by main sponsor Enbridge Gas, featured a 200-M kids run and a 5-KM inclusive walk, run, and move event. The rainy weather did not deter the enthusiasm of the participants, who showed up in full force to demonstrate their support and community spirit.
In addition to the main events, families and children enjoyed a variety of activities, including CTC craft sessions, interactive activities provided by Lally Auto Group, CK Play Rangers, CK Public Library, and Rondeau Park, as well as face painting and a hot dog BBQ. The atmosphere was vibrant and filled with joy as everyone joined in the festivities, making the day memorable.
“Enbridge Gas is proud to continue our long-time support of the Children’s Treatment Centre, as the Champion Sponsor for the 2nd annual Run for the Kids,” said Jim Redford, Vice President of Energy Services, Enbridge Gas. “We are thrilled with the results and would like to express our sincere gratitude to the organizers, volunteers and participants, your dedication and passion serves as an inspiration to us all and speaks to our company’s core values of safety, integrity, respect, inclusion and high performance.”
The Run for the Kids event continues to exceed expectations, drawing a diverse range of participants including individuals, families, corporate teams, and local organizations. The overwhelming community support highlights the importance of the services funded by the CTC Foundation, which include Social Work, Therapeutic Recreation Services, and Music Therapy—all crucial programs not covered by government funding.
“The tremendous success of this year’s Run for the Kids is a testament to the unwavering support from our participants, sponsors, volunteers, and staff,” said Mike Genge, President and CEO of the CTC Foundation. “The dedication and hard work of everyone involved created a memorable and impactful event for our CTC kids and families.”
